The Sacrament of Holy MatrimonyThe Church has a rich tradition of sacramental marriage and covenantal union. The Old Testament authors write of God making a covenant with the chosen people and promising them that they will never be forsaken. The New Testament authors write of Jesus as the new covenant and compare the relationship of Jesus with the Church to the relationship of a husband and wife.
The matrimonial covenant, by which a man and a woman establish between themselves a partnership for the whole of life, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of offspring.
Matrimony, or Marriage, like Holy Orders, is a sacrament that consecrates for a particular mission in building up the Church. It is seen as a sign of the love between Christ and the Church, which is established between spouses in a permanent and exclusive bond, sealed by God. The Sacrament gives couples the grace they need to attain holiness in their married life and for responsible acceptance and upbringing of their children. -

Los autores del Antiguo Testamento escriben que Dios hizo un pacto con el pueblo elegido y les prometió que nunca serán abandonados. Los autores del Nuevo Testamento escriben sobre Jesús como el nuevo pacto y comparan la relación de Jesús con la Iglesia con la relación de marido y mujer.El pacto matrimonial, por el cual un hombre y una mujer establecen entre sí una sociedad para toda la vida, está ordenado por su naturaleza al bien de los cónyuges y a la procreación y educación de la descendencia.El Matrimonio, o Matrimonio, al igual que el Orden Sagrado, es un sacramento que consagra para una misión particular en la edificación de la Iglesia. Es visto como un signo del amor entre Cristo y la Iglesia, que se establece entre los cónyuges en un vínculo permanente y exclusivo, sellado por Dios. El Sacramento da a las parejas la gracia que necesitan para alcanzar la santidad en su vida matrimonial y para la aceptación y educación responsable de sus hijos.
