In stately grace upon the wall
Hang icons of the great and small.
Men and women whom God did call
Examples for us one and all.
He did not call just holy men
Nor honored women of repute
Instead the call for sinners went
And to his people angels sent.
And with His grace they overcame
Their earthly pride, unholy shame.
Yet still the fires purified,
Until they found their holy fame.
You and I are also called,
Break free from sin, in prison walled
Kenosis is our earthly need
As grace He gives our soul to feed.
So as we stumble through this life,
Dealing with our daily strife,
Let's put on cloaks of holiness,
And put aside our earthbound mess.
