Deacon Ed's Poems
Millennium

So many feared what might have been,
They tried to read the world's portents,
To see if they could find their fate,
Their fear caused by three zero date.

And others sought a hidden clue,
A mystery they thought they knew,
What happened at the end of year,
It thrilled them with unbounded fear.

For could it be the world's end?
Could Armageddon this way wend?
Or was this just another date,
Three zeros an uncommon fate?

And then there were the cautious ones,
With question based on zeros and ones,
The century, when did it end?
In triple zero or in ought-one?
